We are looking for a Full Time Molecular Technologist to join our team.

Medical Technologists are responsible for performing technical and scientific processes and procedures in a high complexity molecular testing clinical laboratory. This position involves specimen processing and handling, test performance, and result reporting applied to molecular technology and will require the technologist to master multiple software systems for instruments.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, without direct supervision, including all testing and tasks of the medical technologist /clinical laboratory scientist.
  • Receive, accession, and process incoming specimens. Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis
  • Responsible for quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Recognize deviation from expected results; analyze and correct the problem; document corrective actions taken as indicated in established laboratory procedures.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment. Identify malfunctions or issues with equipment and perform troubleshooting when appropriate.
  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOP) in all applicable areas to assure accuracy of laboratory results. Verifies and reports results in a timely manner
  • Adhere to and ensure laboratory staff are adhering to OSHA, CLIA, CAP, HIPAA regulations.
  • Manages reagent and expendables inventory to ensure patient testing is not interrupted and utilizes laboratory supplies in a cost-effective manner with a minimum of waste.
  • Assist with testing, implementation, and validation of new procedures and instrumentation

Qualifications

CLIA Qualifications - High Complexity

  1. MD or DO with a current medical license; or
  2. Doctoral degree in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution; or
  3. Master's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution; or
  4. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or
  5. Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b)(2)(ii); or
  6. Individuals performing high complexity testing on or before April 24, 1995 with a high school diploma or equivalent with documented training may continue to perform testing only on those tests for which training was documented prior to September 1, 1997 (refer to CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) for details on required training) or
  7. Individual previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CFR.493.1489 and CFR.493.1491 on or before February 28, 1992.

Working Conditions
