Responsibilities
The Mohs Technician is primarily responsible for the following job duties:
- Prepare tissue specimens by processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining for examination by the Mohs surgeon.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including microtomes and cryostats.
- Ensure accurate documentation and labeling of specimens and slides.
- Perform routine and specialized histological and immunohistochemical staining techniques.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical staff to ensure timely processing and examination of specimens.
- Monitor and order laboratory supplies to ensure efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to tissue processing and staining.
- Ensure quality control and assurance in all histological preparations.

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm
Days: Monday-Friday
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of previous dermatology, histology, or laboratory experience
- One year of experience as a Mohs technician or a licensed histologist, or completion of the University of Florida Department of Dermatology Histotechnology Training Program: Mohs Surgery Frozen Section Processing 6-month program.
