About the role:

  • As a Mobile Carpenter, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the integrity, functionality, and aesthetics of multiple facilities across assigned regions. You'll perform carpentry, finish work, and structural maintenance tasks, ensuring that facilities meet operational, safety, and client standards. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective client interaction, and the ability to lead or collaborate on complex renovation and repair projects.
  • The role involves regional travel with occasional overnight stays and calls for a high degree of independence, craftsmanship, and accountability. This position is day shift which could include evenings.
  • This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems to support our Healthcare sector in Memphis TN.   • You will lead all aspects of daily upkeep and restoration of sheetrock, walls, wallpaper, floors, patching, carpentry, and painting along with minor electrical and plumbing.

What you'll do:

  • Be responsible for the general operation, installation, repair, and maintenance of the building's structure and grounds.
  • Perform assigned repairs and emergency preventative maintenance. Complete maintenance repair records as required
  • Complete skilled carpentry projects including framing, door installations, drywall finishing, millwork, casework, flooring, and ceiling systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings; apply knowledge to ensure work meets all building codes and CBRE standards.
  • Perform minor renovations such as building walls, installing doors, installing acoustic ceilings, and installing some floor coverings.
  • Install and repair cabinetry, move and assemble modular furniture.
  • Patch and repair various wall surfaces such as sheetrock repair, wallpaper repair, and the accurate matching of different paint colors, sheen, and types of paints and stains.
  • Repairs to ceiling surfaces to include the correct fitting and installation of acoustical ceiling tiles, and solid surface ceilings.
  • Maintain and repair various floor surfaces, including VCT, LVT, and prepare concrete surfaces to complete the installation of these floors.
  • Review assigned work orders and estimate time, materials, equipment, and tools to complete the repair. Order necessary materials and supplies as needed or provide a list of materials to building tenants.
  • Review construction documents such as drawings, sketches, specifications, and perform duties to meet the standards of said documents and meet construction industry standards.
  • Collaborate with employees, end users, and partners concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance, safety, and are ready for use for the next job.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Ensure the personal safety and safety of those who are affected by your work.
  • Follow all facility infection control procedures during construction, or repairs.
  • Participate in all HSE-related programs, activities, and training as required. This includes incident investigations, interviews, auditing, assessment, etc.
  • Report any conditions that could result in an accident or injury to management.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems exercising discretion and experience to obtain the best outcome.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Use digital work order platforms, tables, and Microsoft Office tools to track, report, and communicate progress.
  • Work independently or collaboratively under minimal supervision to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and client service.
  • Complete all driving lessons as required.
  • Follow all traffic laws.

What you'll need:

  • High School Diploma or GED with up to 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Knowledge of various methods of construction standards
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, measuring, and layout for high precision work.
  • Strong understanding of structural framing, drywall systems, finish carpentry, and modular installations.
  • Basic HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems and repairs.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive attitude.
  • Basic math skills. Ability to calculate square footage and estimate supplies needed for assigned jobs.
  • Ability to operate various saws and other construction-related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and operate the company vehicle safely under all traffic laws.
