JOB PURPOSE
Mixer positions are specialized roles requiring prior experience and/or training to ensure the successful preparation and mixing of materials in the production process. These positions are critical to the smooth operation of the manufacturing process, requiring reliable, consistent, and predictable attendance to meet production demands. The primary responsibility of these roles is to follow exact specifications for ingredient staging, mixing, and quality control while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the production environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Mixer I

  • Stage ingredients (powders and liquids) in preparation for mixing
  • Sift and mix materials according to batch, formulation, and compounding sheet instructions
  • Identify raw material names and quantities, assisting in the weighing process
  • Verify that items pulled match both names and part numbers from batch sheets
  • Assist Mixer II in production processes within the Soft Chew department
  • Monitor totes and hoppers to ensure product does not overfill
  • Clean machinery, room cells, and equipment (e.g., buckets, totes)
  • Assist in production rooms as needed

Mixer II

  • Successfully performs all functions of Mixer I
  • Program machines for mixing sequences and operate mixing equipment within the Soft Chew department
  • Consistently monitor product quality
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of and manage all paperwork associated with the process
  • Recognize product characteristics (appearance and texture) through hands-on experience
  • Provide training and guidance to other Mixers

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to average numbers to determine average weight
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to remain alert and focused
  • Ability to become forklift certified and maintain certification
  • Ability to follow directions accurately and adhere to compound instructions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

EDUCATION | PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in an environment that manufactures food or nutritional supplements
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices
