Job Summary

The Mitigation & Restoration Technician is responsible for responding to residential and commercial property losses caused by water, fire, mold, and other environmental hazards. This role involves performing emergency mitigation services, damage assessment, cleanup, drying, demolition, and documentation in compliance with industry standards and company procedures. The technician plays a critical role in stabilizing properties, preventing further damage, and supporting the restoration process.


Key Responsibilities

Perform mitigation tasks: water extraction, equipment setup (air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers), structural & content drying, fire damage cleanup, and building/space containment with negative air.

  • Perform selective demolition of drywall, flooring, cabinetry, insulation, trim, and other finishes while protecting unaffected areas.
  • Operate hand and power tools (saws, drills, grinders, hammer drills, pry bars) safely and correctly.
  • Perform mold remediation activities, including removal of contaminated materials under proper containment and PPE protocols.
  • Bag, stage, and dispose of debris per company standards and local regulations; maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Follow all OSHA, IICRC, and company safety procedures and use required PPE; identify and report hazards (structural, electrical, asbestos/lead suspect materials).
  • Document work performed through photos and simple logs; communicate clearly with crew leads, project managers, and customers to ensure satisfaction and compliance.
  • Pack out, inventory, transport, and document customer contents with efficiency and extreme care.
  • Clean and restore customer property using industry-standard equipment and cleaning solutions.
  • Perform decontamination cleaning of equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Assist with emergency after‑hours or on‑call response as required
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers
  • Explain mitigation processes and job progress clearly
  • Represent the company positively at all job sites
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in the mitigation and restoration industry (water mitigation, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, content processing).
  • 6+ months of experience in construction, demolition, or comparable hands-on labor.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs frequently; work in tight, elevated, wet, smoky, dusty, or mold-impacted environments.
  • Basic proficiency with hand and power tools; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and damaged environments.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen as required

Preferred

  • IICRC certifications (WRT, FSRT, AMRT) or willingness to obtain within 6–12 months.
  • Familiarity with moisture meters, HEPA filtration, and building containment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Indoor/outdoor job sites with variable conditions (confined, wet, smoky, dirty, mold-contaminated, or damaged structures).
  • Regular standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, and handling materials 50–75 lbs; occasional heavier lifting with team or equipment assistance.
  • Use of PPE including respirators, gloves, protective suits, eye/ear protection as tasks require.
  • Work may be performed during nights, weekends, holidays and in emergency call-out situations
