Mitigation Manager
Full-Time | Salary + Bonus Eligible | Restoration Industry
Are you an experienced mitigation leader who knows how to take control of a loss, lead a crew, protect the customer experience, and keep jobs moving profitably?
We are hiring a Mitigation Manager to oversee all water, fire, mold, and emergency mitigation operations from the initial inspection through completion. This is not a position for someone who has only managed from behind a desk. We need a hands-on leader who understands dry-out procedures, can establish accurate scopes, communicate confidently with adjusters and property owners, and hold a mitigation team accountable for quality, documentation, readiness, and results.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mitigation Project Manager, Operations Manager, or Restoration Supervisor who is ready to take ownership of an entire department.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Oversee all mitigation and emergency service operations
- Manage mitigation projects from customer authorization and inspection through completion
- Inspect residential and commercial losses and establish the initial scope of work
- Confirm scopes, coverage considerations, and project expectations with customers and adjusters
- Lead and develop mitigation technicians, subcontractors, and vendors
- Conduct daily production and readiness meetings
- Perform jobsite audits and provide hands-on training in the field
- Ensure every project is properly documented and submitted within required timelines
- Write mitigation estimates and scopes when needed
- Monitor job cycle times, production hours, accounts receivable aging, customer satisfaction, and profitability
- Coordinate with reconstruction and contents teams to keep projects moving
- Manage mitigation equipment, consumables, vehicles, and inventory
- Ensure trucks are fully stocked, maintained, and ready to respond to emergency losses
- Resolve customer concerns before they become larger problems
- Build productive relationships with adjusters, commercial clients, referral partners, and vendors
- Assist with recruiting, qualifying, onboarding, and retaining mitigation personnel
- Help improve departmental processes, employee engagement, productivity, and profitability
- Support operational sales efforts by requesting reviews, referrals, and recommendations
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a leader who understands that mitigation is about more than removing water and setting equipment. You must be able to manage people, documentation, customer expectations, insurance requirements, equipment, timelines, and job profitability at the same time.
Requirements
Qualified candidates should have:
- At least two years of mitigation, restoration, reconstruction, or related experience
- Previous experience supervising mitigation crews or restoration personnel
- A strong understanding of water mitigation, structural drying, fire losses, mold remediation, and emergency services
- The ability to inspect losses and independently establish a proper scope of work
- Experience communicating with homeowners, commercial customers, adjusters, and referral partners
- Strong leadership, delegation, training, and conflict-resolution skills
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
- The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, tablets, mobile applications, and restoration management software
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- The ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- The ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in appropriate PPE
- The ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and environments affected by water, smoke, fire, mold, and mildew
Highly Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Two to seven years of experience as a Mitigation Project Manager, Mitigation Manager, or restoration leader
- Direct experience working with property insurance claims
- Experience with Xactimate
- Experience with restoration software such as DASH, Encircle, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of ANSI/IICRC water damage restoration standards
- Current or previous IICRC WRT or ASD certification
- Fire, mold, EPA Lead Renovator, AHERA, or related certifications
- Experience managing equipment utilization, fleet readiness, job costing, and departmental profitability
Emergency Response Expectations
Restoration does not operate on a Monday-through-Friday schedule. The successful candidate must be willing and able to:
- Participate in a rotating 24-hour emergency on-call schedule
- Respond to emergency losses after hours and on weekends
- Answer calls promptly during assigned on-call periods
- Coordinate field employees assigned to emergency response
- Ensure crews, trucks, supplies, and equipment are prepared for immediate deployment

- Full-time, year-round employment
- Leadership responsibility over an essential operating department
- The opportunity to build, train, and improve a mitigation team
- A combination of office leadership, customer interaction, and field involvement
- Long-term growth potential within an established restoration organization
The Right Person for This Position
You may be a strong fit if you are the person crews turn to when a complicated loss needs to be handled correctly. You stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, enforce proper documentation, and do not allow trucks, equipment, projects, or employees to become disorganized.
You understand how to serve the customer while protecting company profitability. You are comfortable coaching employees, addressing performance issues, dealing with adjusters, inspecting losses, and stepping onto a jobsite when the team needs leadership.
