Traveling Project Manager – Data Center / Mission Critical Construction

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a passion for delivering complex, mission-critical facilities? Our client, a nationally recognized commercial general contractor, is seeking a Traveling Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of large-scale data center projects across the United States.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will lead all phases of construction, from preconstruction through project closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires extensive travel throughout the U.S. to support mission-critical construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of data center construction projects from award through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and overall project execution strategies.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasting, change orders, and financial performance.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and contract requirements.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to drive successful field operations and project delivery.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two completed ground-up data center or mission-critical construction projects is required.
  • 7+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of mission-critical construction, MEP coordination, scheduling, and complex building systems.
  • Experience managing project budgets, contracts, subcontractors, and client relationships.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
