Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Undersea Warfare Mission Coordinator for the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Contract, located in Coronado, CA.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that all equipment/system resources required for warfighting training events are employed in accordance with government rules and regulations and in a manner that supports navy/marine corps approved training requirements.

The individual in this position should have expertise in Basic, Integrated, and Sustainment Phase Training requirements for naval forces assigned to the Commander U.S. THIRD Fleet and have extensive knowledge and understanding of Undersea Warfare exercise requirements.

This individual will plan, execute, and ensure post-exercise data requirements are delivered to users for Undersea Warfare and Mine Warfare exercises.

Position requires flexibility to work occasional non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements. Additionally, position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and provides recommendations on issues dealing with disciplines such as military command control and communications, electronic warfare, weapon systems, contingency operations, Military Tactics Techniques and Procedures (MTTP), force planning, and training exercises.
  • Coordinates with user community representatives throughout all phases of development concerning requirements definition, clarification, prioritization, and alternatives.
  • Analyzes the conduct and results of operational user training, military maneuvers, or simulated wartime operations undertaken to maintain the capabilities of a force.
  • Compares, analyzes, and evaluates the relative merits of program designs and alternatives.
  • Applies emerging doctrine and tactics, whether detailed in formal doctrinal changes or emanating from Advanced Warfighting Experiments (AWEs), Advanced Technology Demonstrations (ATDs), or Force XXI activities, to system design and development.
  • Assesses the impact of programmatic and technical options on stated user requirements and doctrine.
  • Prepares reports and briefs summarizing support requirements, deficiencies, and investments for various programs and systems.
  • Assures warfighter users have a good understanding of Range Policies, Procedures, and capabilities.
  • Responsible for development, production, and continuous update of written, photographic, audio, video and mixed media training aids and materials for mission planning.
  • Familiarizes users with range capabilities, assets, and operational procedures with detailed debriefings.
  • Supports planning and coordination for agencies participating in or supporting training operations.
  • Attends pre-mission conferences for users and support groups.
  • Coordinates training system assets.
  • Communicates daily with aviation units, air control units, airspace/air traffic control agencies and other training system facilities to ensure coordination of necessary participants.
  • Maintains computer database of range utilization, prepares reports of range availability/scheduling/utilization.
  • Develops and presents briefings on capability, operation, and requirements to military and government agencies, to include VIP presentations.
  • Provides for equipment operator training for on-site personnel in operation of display consoles.
  • Conducts equipment demonstrations for authorized personnel.
  • Supports users with developing training scenarios and coordination of fleet exercises.
  • Implements and administers effective, rapid, and comprehensive method of distributing mission scenarios and updates.
  • Provides feedback on mission results.
  • Provides post-mission debriefings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field or 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in Navy Undersea Warfare operations, including exercise scheduling, requirements and resource analysis, planning, execution, data acquisition, and support documentation.
  • Extensive related experience in underwater, sonar, or in-water tracking systems.
  • Operational Staff experience as an exercise planner with the ability to coordinate maritime training exercises.
  • Must currently hold and be able to maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred Requirements

  • Proven sub-specialist in undersea warfare.
  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Engineering or Management or related discipline.
  • Supervisory experience managing analysts, briefers, and controllers.
  • Knowledge of Navy operations and administrative procedures and directives.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
