Description

The candidate is required to have completed Tier III of the Plumbing licensure process, is employed in the Plumbing field with 2 years work experience and possess OSHA certification. Prior teaching, training or mentoring experience is preferred. Plumbing Technical Assistant will assist the Plumbing Instructor and students regarding tools, equipment, processes, and procedures, including safety. They will maintain supplies and materials, notifying the Plumbing Instructor when new supplies and materials are needed, or in need of upkeep or repair. They will support the Plumbing Instructor by modeling appropriate work and safety skills and will adhere to the standards outlined in the MTI Student Handbook. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of funding. Courses are subject to sufficient enrollment and may be canceled prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. Responsibilities and compensation are outlined below. Major Responsibilities:

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of post-secondary students.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum and establish objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to post-secondary students.
  • Counsel with colleagues and post-secondary students on a regular basis.
  • Assist in maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing post-secondary student conduct.
  • Assist the administration in implementing MTI goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the MTI Program.
  • Maintain the condition of facilities.
  • Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Tier I Instructor and the Director.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber License preferred.
  • Completion of Tier III of the Plumbing licensure process.
  • Must be employed in the Plumbing industry and have at least 2 years work experience.
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of the Plumbing industry including: MA Plumbing Code, Blueprint Reading, OSHA and Hot Work, Hand and Power Tools, OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required.
  • Must pass a CORI/SORI screening and must provide proof of having submitted to fingerprinting per MA DESE guidelines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.

Terms of Employment:

  • Part-Time.
  • Monday - Thursday, 4:00PM - 9:30PM.
  • Hours will vary based on District and student needs.
  • Grant-funded position, contingent on the availability of funding and sufficient course enrollment.

Effective Dates of Employment:

  • August 2026 - June 30, 2027.

Supervisor:

  • Director of Expanded Access.

Compensation:

  • Compensation is $22.50 per hour.
