QUALIFICATIONS
  • An avid love for reading and sharing literature
  • Teaching certification/licensure in the appropriate subject area

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional & Curriculum Duties

  • Lesson Planning: Design and deliver engaging daily lesson plans covering reading, writing, vocabulary, and literature.
  • Skill Development: Teach reading comprehension strategies, essay writing techniques, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Resource Selection: Select and utilize diverse, age-appropriate novels, articles, and media.Standard
  • Alignment: Ensure all instruction aligns with state and national educational standards.

Assessment & Student Support

  • Grading & Feedback: Grade assignments, essays, and exams promptly while providing constructive feedback to promote student growth.Data-Driven Instruction: 
  • Analyze test results and assessments to modify instruction and identify areas where students need intervention or enrichment.
  • Individualized Support: Work with students individually or in small groups to overcome specific learning challenges or behavioral hurdles.
  • Test Preparation: Prepare students for required state and district standardized tests.

Classroom Management & Environment

  • Positive Climate: Create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment that encourages student voice and collaboration.
  • Rule Enforcement: Establish, communicate, and consistently enforce clear classroom rules and routines.

Collaboration & Administrative Duties

  • Family Communication: Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress, grades, and classroom expectations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside other faculty members to support interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives

About the Role

In this position, you will collaborate closely with other staff to plan and co-develop lessons, including production-based learning experiences centered on Shakespeare and mythology. Students will be guided to synthesize texts and create a culminating festival aligned with the year's theme, transforming learning into meaningful performance, writing, and creative expression.

Lead students to interact with a range of texts, including novel studies, to strengthen skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting. Preparing students for the rigors of their chosen high school pathways, including IB and Cambridge programs.
