Middle School Teacher/Advisor - Math and Physical Education - (One-Year Appointment)

We seek an experienced teacher with a successful track record to teach Middle School Math and Physical Education, while also serving as an Advisor. This position reports to the Middle School Principal and the Director of Athletics. 

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and instruct high-quality Middle School Math and Physical Education classes. 
  • Design differentiated lessons that emphasize safety, engagement, knowledge, and skill development for diverse learner profiles. 
  • Collaborate and participate actively in the work of the Department on innovative curriculum design and program development.
  • Utilize learning management systems (e.g., Schoology and Seesaw) to deliver content. 
  • Evaluate and assess student learning and performance in both subject areas, maintaining accurate records and writing comprehensive report cards.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students, faculty, and parents regarding student progress and development. 
  • Participate in curriculum planning, departmental workshops 
  • Supervise students during non-instructional time to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the CBA, including student advisory, supervision duties, and office hours. 
  • Attend curriculum and grade level meetings.
  • Participate actively in the school community, which may include coaching an interscholastic athletics team or being involved in the After-School Sports Program.
Advisor
The teacher will be part of a grade-level team of Advisors who support the social-emotional needs of the Middle School grade.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Experience in a K-12 educational environment essential
  • 5+ years of teaching experience, preferably in an international setting
  • Experience with best practices in assessment and reporting best practices preferred (e.g., Standard-Based Grading and Reporting)
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
  • Concussion Training
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the content and pedagogy of different physical education curriculum areas, including a combination of team sports, individual/dual sports, strength, and conditioning. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation is between $67,745 and $111,974, commensurate with years of experience as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (salary is prorated for part-time or temporary positions
