We are looking to hire a 1.0 FTE Middle School Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. In order to set our certified staff up for success, we have a robust New (to ETCSD) Educator Program and mentorship opportunities.
The successful candidate will possess strong background, knowledge, skills and attitudes that support Personalized Learning Environments by demonstrating the following abilities to:
Design and implement specially designed instruction for children in grades 6th - 8th with IEPs who are eligible for special education services. Support and develop practices reflective of the District's policy on Personalization Work cooperatively in a Professional Learning Community to promote continued student growth Design and implement special education programming and services through the use of content knowledge, knowledge of appropriate State Standards and Alternative State Standards, an understanding of student needs, and available resources for neurodiverse youth Administer standardized assessments as part of special education evaluations, analyze assessment results and use data to drive instruction Experience with children with autism, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities as well as those who demonstrate social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges Design and implement positive behavior support and intervention techniques and plans. Use, experience and interest in co-teaching models to facilitate inclusive educational strategies. Serve as part of an IEP team conducting special education eligibility evaluations, lead IEP development/case management and Least Restrictive Environment placement determinations and complete associated paperwork and legal documentation while adhering to all legal guidelines and timelines. Coordinate and manage multiple teaching assistants who work to assist students. Incorporate equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support into the culture and learning environment Utilize a forward thinking and collaborative approach to problem solving and meeting the diverse needs of learners. Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of the use and role of assistive technology and adaptive equipment. Ensure confidentiality of information related to students that adheres to all applicable FERPA and HIPAA laws. Adhere to the highest professional ethical standards.
