Middle School/ High School Special Education Cross Categorical Teacher

The School District of River Ridge is seeking applicants for an anticipated full-time Middle School Special Education Cross Categorical Teacher. This is a permanent full time position starting the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and an ability to utilize technology within the learning environment to best prepare our students for success. The preferred candidate will have a Cross Categorical license. Other licenses will be considered for the right candidate. This position requires a dynamic teacher with ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community. An enthusiastic teacher with the ability to implement curriculum and engage students in achieving learning outcomes will be the central function of this position. Ability to use data to drive instructional decisions and collaborate with colleagues is an essential skill for this position.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts special education evaluations/reevaluations in accordance with the IDEA and Wisconsin statutes.
• Develops Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs).
• Review IEPs at least annually, and update objectives as needed.
• Collaborate with IEP-team members to determine methods for efficient delivery of special instruction.
• Seeks parent involvement in education process.
• Manages classroom to assure a conducive, safe, and secure learning environment.
• Provides special instruction in academic subjects and daily living skills, such as conflict resolution, hygiene, and safety.
• Performs personal cares and/or delegated nursing acts, if necessary.
• Collaborates with colleagues to continuously improve curriculum and service delivery.
• Progress monitors and assesses student achievement to prepare student progress reports.
• Provides input for Principal's annual evaluation of non-certified classroom support staff.
• Submits required records and reports on time.
• Investigates innovative projects for potential instructional programming improvement.
• Follows local procedures regarding implementation of state and federal special education laws.
• Teaches respect, responsibility, self-discipline, and encourages pride.
• Holds students to high standards and commitment.
• Uses a variety of teaching strategies to meet wide variety of learning styles.
• Adapts curriculum to wide range of student abilities.
• Develops positive working relationships with community agencies.
• Pursues professional growth to improve educator effectiveness.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
