Uwharrie Charter Academy

Seasonal Coaching Position

Position Summary

Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered Head Football Coach for our Middle School Football Program. The Head Coach will provide leadership for all aspects of the football program, including player development, skill instruction, team culture, and game-day management. The successful candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, character, teamwork, and academic success.

This position requires a coach who is committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field and who is willing to invest time in building the program throughout the year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead all football practices during the fall football season.
  • Organize and oversee all aspects of the middle school football program.
  • Develop practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, safety, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare athletes for competition through effective instruction and coaching.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, team travel, and other team activities.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, and athletic department staff.
  • Promote academic success, positive behavior, and leadership among student-athletes.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper care of athletic facilities and equipment.
  • Follow all school, conference, and state athletic association rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate and conduct offseason workouts and skill-development opportunities to prepare athletes for future competition.
  • Build a positive team culture that reflects the mission and values of Uwharrie Charter Academy.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and mentor middle school student-athletes.
  • Commitment to student development, sportsmanship, and program growth.
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver''s License (CDL) with assistance provided by Uwharrie Charter Academy.

Preferred

  • Previous football coaching experience, particularly at the middle- or high-school level.
  • Experience leading athletic programs and coordinating practices and competitions.
  • Knowledge of football fundamentals, player development, and game strategy.
  • Experience working with adolescent students in educational or athletic settings.

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to organize practices, schedules, and team activities.
  • Commitment to athlete safety and proper coaching techniques.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and community members.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively participate in practices and games.
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, and demonstrate football techniques for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move athletic equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
