Position Summary

The Middle School Girls' Volleyball Coach is responsible for developing, organizing, and leading a successful middle school volleyball program that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, academic achievement, character development, and athletic excellence. The coach will provide instruction, supervision, and leadership for student-athletes while ensuring compliance with school policies and athletic program expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous volleyball coaching and/or playing experience.

  • Ability to work effectively with middle school students.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to pass all required background checks.

  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain before season begins).

  • Completion of any state or school-required coaching certifications and training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching volleyball at the middle school or high school level.

  • Knowledge of skill development, game strategy, conditioning, and injury prevention.

  • Experience organizing practices, camps, and athletic events.

  • CDL/School Bus Driving Certification

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive volleyball program plan.

  • Establish team goals, expectations, and standards of conduct.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered team culture.

  • Promote good sportsmanship and character among student-athletes.

Practice and Game Management

  • Plan and conduct organized, effective practices.

  • Teach volleyball fundamentals, techniques, and game strategies.

  • Prepare athletes physically and mentally for competition.

  • Manage game-day operations, including lineups, substitutions, and player development.

  • Ensure athletes receive appropriate instruction and supervision at all times.

Student-Athlete Development

  • Monitor academic progress and encourage academic success.

  • Promote discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.

  • Communicate regularly with athletes and parents regarding expectations and schedules.

  • Encourage participation while maintaining competitive standards.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Submit season plans, schedules, rosters, and equipment needs by established deadlines.

  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, and inventory.

  • Coordinate transportation and travel requirements with the Athletic Director.

  • Attend required coaches' meetings and professional development sessions.

  • Assist with scheduling games and tournaments when necessary.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure a safe environment during practices, games, and team activities.

  • Follow all school, conference, and athletic association rules and regulations.

  • Report injuries and incidents according to school procedures.

  • Properly supervise students before, during, and after athletic activities.

  • Maintain and secure all athletic equipment and uniforms.

Performance Expectations

The Head Volleyball Coach will:

  • Demonstrate professionalism and integrity.

  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, officials, and opposing teams.

  • Be punctual and dependable.

  • Communicate effectively and promptly.

  • Support the mission and vision of the school.

  • Successfully organize and manage all aspects of the volleyball program.

Time Commitment

  • Attend preseason meetings and conditioning sessions.

  • Schedule and attend practices.

  • Attend all games, tournaments, and required school athletic events.

  • Complete all administrative duties within established timelines.

Evaluation Criteria

Performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Program organization and preparation.

  • Student-athlete development and participation.

  • Compliance with school policies and procedures.

  • Communication with parents, athletes, and administration.

  • Professionalism, leadership, and sportsmanship.

  • Timely completion of assigned responsibilities.

Salary/Stipend: Determined annually by school administration based on experience, qualifications, and available funding.
