Core Job Responsibilities
On-Field Performance & Instruction
- Execute tryouts and evaluate athletic skills.
- Lead, plan, and supervise all practices, games, and off-season conditioning.
- Teach fundamental football skills, team play, and defensive/offensive strategies.
- Ensure proper athletic conditioning and physical preparation.
Program Management & Administration
- Oversee assistant coaches, volunteers, and student assistants.
- Coordinate with the school Athletic Director regarding scheduling, transportation, and facilities.
- Issue, track, and maintain accurate inventory logs of all team equipment and uniforms.
Compliance & Student Welfare
- Enforce TMSAA eligibility bylaws and track academic compliance.
- Keep highly accurate player records, including emergency medical data and insurance forms.
- Maintain safety standards to minimize player risk and check field conditions.
Communication & Culture
- Foster sportsmanship, character, and team discipline.
- Maintain lines of communication with parents, faculty, administration, and community stakeholders.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Demands long hours outdoors across changing weather conditions.
- Schedule: Expect heavy after-school commitments, evening game times, and seasonal weekend travel.
