POSITION SUMMARY
The Middle School Coach supports the athletic program by providing leadership, instruction, and supervision to student-athletes. The coach works collaboratively with the varsity coaching staff and Athletic Department to promote skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth while operating within the philosophy and expectations of Greenwood Community School Corporation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the varsity coach to implement and operate the assigned athletic program in alignment with the goals, philosophy, and expectations of the school corporation.
- Provide instruction, supervision, and guidance to student-athletes during practices, competitions, and related activities.
- Promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, character development, and responsible behavior among student-athletes.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment that prioritizes student well-being and athletic growth.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practices, contests, meetings, and other program-related responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school staff, and administration as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and state athletic association rules and regulations.
- Assist with the organization, supervision, and management of team equipment and facilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Building Principal, or Varsity Coach.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be provided in accordance with the Greenwood Community School Corporation Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) Compensation Schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for middle school student-athletes.
- Previous coaching experience or experience working with youth preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Must meet all district employment requirements, including background checks and any required coaching certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Requires frequent after-school, evening, and occasional weekend commitments.
- Ability to actively supervise and participate in athletic practices and competitions.
- Travel may be required for away contests and athletic events.
