The Williams Bay School District is seeking a full-time middle/high school social studies teacher beginning the 2026 - 2027 school year.

Williams Bay is a 700-student 4K - 12 district located in Southeast Wisconsin on the shore of Geneva Lake. The school district is strongly supported by the community and has provided students with an exemplary education. Position Summary

The Middle School/High School Social Studies Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment that empowers all students to achieve and excel academically, socially, and civically. The teacher will provide high-quality instruction in social studies courses while fostering critical thinking, responsible citizenship, lifelong learning, and positive contributions to society.

Qualifications:

Must be Wisconsin DPI certified in Social Studies (1701, 1735, 1740) in grades 6 - 12. Additional certifications: 1710, 1725, and 1745 are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging standards-based social studies instruction for middle school and high school students.
  • Courses include: American Government, Civics, Psychology, AP Psychology, AP Government courses.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and resources to promote student engagement and achievement.
  • Foster critical thinking, inquiry, problem-solving, and discussion-based learning.
  • Connect historical and civic concepts to current events and real-world applications.
  • Integrate literacy, research, and communication skills into classroom instruction.
  • Assess student learning regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions.

Student Development

  • Promote civic responsibility, ethical decision-making, and active citizenship.
  • Create a classroom culture that is safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behavior, attendance, and achievement.
  • Support students in developing the skills necessary to become lifelong learners.
  • Must have the ability to increase the motivation and interest of students.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and community members.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, student support meetings, and school events.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to support district and school improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute positively to the culture and climate of the school district.

Evaluation

  • Assess student progress both formally and informally on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of personal instructional techniques.
  • Assist in the appraisal/development of curriculum.
  • Implement evaluation information appropriately.

Preference will be given to applicants with the desire and ability to coach or advise middle and high school activities.
