IT Security Administrator

$45 to $48 per hour with a conversion salary of $90k to $95K annually
Summary
We are seeking a Security Administrator to support and enhance the security posture of a primarily Windows-based server environment. This role focuses on protecting operating systems, servers, and related infrastructure through proactive monitoring, administration of security controls, and adherence to best practices. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on experience in IT security within a Windows environment and is eager to grow their expertise in a collaborative, enterprise setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain security controls across Windows Server environments
- Monitor systems and logs to identify, investigate, and respond to security events and vulnerabilities
- Implement and manage access controls, permissions, and identity-related security measures
- Support patching, vulnerability management, and system hardening initiatives
- Assist with security incident response, investigation, and remediation efforts
- Maintain security documentation, procedures, and configurations
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to ensure secure system designs
- Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance-related activities as needed
Requirements- 3–5 years of experience in a security administration or related cybersecurity role including systems administration role with a strong security focus
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server operating systems in an enterprise environment
- Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP (Associate), CISM, SSCP, or similar
- Experience in security principles including authentication, authorization, encryption, and least privilege
- Experience with security monitoring tools, antivirus/endpoint protection, and log analysis
- Experience with network and firewall security management, design and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)
- Familiar with scripting language (python)
Bonus Skills- CIPTS certification (highly desired)
- Experience with Active Directory security, Group Policy, and identity management
- Exposure to SIEM tools and security event correlation
- Experience supporting compliance frameworks or internal security audits
