A Microbiology Manager is needed in Nashville, TN, supporting a centralized laboratory network that serves more than 250 acute and rehabilitation hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and commercial accounts across a multi-state system. The operation includes a fully automated esoteric core laboratory and a dedicated histology and microbiology facility, processing high volumes of clinical and anatomic pathology specimens to support timely diagnostic decision-making.

The role. Reporting to department leadership and engaging directly with the medical director on policy development and quality metrics, the Microbiology Manager oversees the day-to-day technical and non-technical operations of the microbiology department. A significant portion of the role centers on regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness, including monitoring adherence to CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS standards and leading the department through accreditation preparation cycles. The manager also owns the quality control and assurance programs covering test methodology, protocols, equipment, and supplies, and actively drives continuous quality improvement initiatives. Developing and executing a department communication plan ensures that operational, quality, and policy changes reach all staff consistently.
