We're the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our diverse and innovative team of professionals ranges from skilled trades to project managers, engineers and software developers to solution architects, technical subject matter experts, and system users. Anchored in our rich, 135-year history, we collaborate together at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of the most powerful and survivable naval ships in the world. Want to be part of the team? Apply today! We look forward to meeting you.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager 2 to lead and supervise a new Lifecycle Management (LCM) team within the Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning Yard (PREPY). This is a highly strategic position that offers the opportunity to play a key role in developing and implementing lifecycle management strategies for a broad portfolio of carrier (A4W and A1B) fleet support and new construction systems. As an Engineering Manager 2, you will lead a team of engineers, analysts, technicians, and logisticians in developing and maintaining lifecycle management plans, including obsolescence management, technology roadmaps, and logistics support plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of lifecycle management strategies for PREPY.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and project management, to ensure effective implementation of LCM strategies.

Interface with NAVSEA, NNL, BPMI, NAVSUP, and other key stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are met and to identify opportunities for process improvements.

Analyze and resolve logistics and supply chain issues, including procurement, inventory management, and shipping/receiving.

Develop and maintain metrics to measure LCM performance, including metrics for obsolescence management, technology insertion, and logistics support.

Execute the LCM team's action plan, including identifying and prioritizing tasks, and allocating resources.

As an Engineering Manager 2, you will be expected to think broadly to accomplish long-term goals, but also tactically to identify and execute short-term strategies that move PREPY's cradle-to-grave LCM initiatives forward incrementally. You will be expected to lead efforts to ensure the successful implementation of PREPY LCM strategies. If you are motivated and looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity, we encourage you to apply for this exciting role.

Opportunities:

Opportunity to develop and implement obsolescence management strategies, including proactive and reactive part procurement, and return and repair planning.

Chance to work on critical and strategic aspects of lifecycle and system project management, including technology roadmaps, logistics support planning, and supply chain management for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) that directly impact the navy's strategic path forward.

Collaborative work environment with a team of experienced engineers, logisticians, and project managers.

Opportunity to work on high-visibility projects with a talented team of professionals.

Professional development and growth opportunities, including training and education programs.

Collaborative and dynamic work environment, with a focus on teamwork and innovation.

Must Have

Bachelors Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Masters Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have
