Shape the metals supply engine behind precision manufacturing

At Autocam/NN Inc., a leader in high‑performance precision components, we blend innovative thinking with advanced machining to push what’s possible. Our team is empowered, talented, and driven—and we’re adding a Metals Category Procurement Strategist to keep our production running seamlessly across NN Mobile Solutions locations in North America.

A day in your role

You start by reviewing demand forecasts with Product Managers and VSM leaders, pairing that insight with market signals and supplier lead times. You translate those inputs into smart buys—stainless and alloy bar, titanium bar, forgings, and related components—balancing time-to-replenish with production needs. You release purchase orders, track open orders, and quickly clear any invoice pricing discrepancies. Midday, you host a supplier check‑in to drive total cost improvements and on‑time delivery, then partner with Engineering to align supplier deliverables with product development and launch milestones. In our purchasing team huddle, you help resolve cross‑functional issues and highlight corrective actions. Before close, you update supplier records in QAD, run a statistical inventory analysis to trim excess stock without risking customer orders, and confirm compliance to our QMS and EMS.

What you’ll own

  • Turn Strategic Sourcing direction into executable plans for all production metals purchases across North America.
  • Assist or lead category contract negotiations for metals; coordinate commercial planning and PO release strategy.
  • Build and mature supplier partnerships focused on total cost, quality, and delivery; execute innovative cost improvement programs.
  • Establish preferred suppliers and run quarterly business reviews to maintain a leveraged, right‑sized supply base.
  • Align spend with supply‑base performance objectives; oversee order tracking and invoice pricing issue resolution.
  • Guide suppliers through problem resolution and verify timely, effective corrective action closure.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and technical teams to align supplier deliverables with product development and launch schedules.
  • Contribute to the development, communication, and rollout of supply management programs, policies, and concepts.
  • Participate in purchasing team meetings; work cross‑functionally to resolve issues quickly and constructively.
  • Maintain supplier master data in QAD (add/modify suppliers) and drive order efficiency.
  • Monitor raw‑material inventories and apply statistical methods to reduce excess without jeopardizing production commitments.
  • Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2+ years in supply management, ideally within raw materials/metals for industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP).

If you’re energized by turning forecasts into flawless execution and shaping a resilient metals supply base, you’ll thrive here.
