About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a hands-on Mine Metallurgist to lead assay laboratory operations and provide metallurgical expertise supporting active leach pad and ADR plant operations at a Nevada-based gold operation. This role plays a critical part in optimizing precious metal recovery, ensuring accurate metal accounting, and maintaining strict quality and safety standards in a fast-paced mining environment.

If you have strong experience with gold processing, cyanide chemistry, and laboratory leadership, this is an opportunity to make a direct operational impact while leading a skilled technical team.

What's In It For You?

  • Competitive Salary - $85,000 - $129,000 / year + Relocation Assistance Provided

  • 4 on 3 off 10 hour day-shift schedule - Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday

  • Growth opportunities with new site development in-process

  • Comfortable working on-site in a mine environment with rotational schedules

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily assay laboratory operations, including cyanide shakes, bottle rolls, column leach tests, and carbon activity testing

  • Supervise analysis of carbon samples and ADR solution samples to monitor recovery efficiency

  • Develop and maintain QA/QC programs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance

  • Support leach pad and ADR optimization, including refinery flux proportions, carbon stripping, and kilning best practices

  • Manage metal accounting for the leach pad and plant, ensuring accurate monthly inventory reconciliation

Laboratory & Operational Work

  • Implement and maintain sample tracking and data management systems (LIMS preferred)

  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab instruments (AA, ICP, balances, crushers, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot analytical discrepancies and process inefficiencies

  • Manage laboratory inventory, procurement, and vendor coordination

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational and QA/QC reports

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to MSHA and company safety regulations

  • Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and reagents

  • Lead regular safety meetings and training sessions for lab personnel

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment

  • Promote a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mineral Processing, or related field

  • 3-5+ years of mining or industrial lab experience (gold/silver processing required)

  • Hands-on experience with cyanide shake tests, bottle rolls, and column leach methodologies

  • Proficiency with Atomic Absorption (AA), ICP-OES/MS, and carbon analysis techniques

  • Demonstrated experience in a laboratory or mining environment

  • Strong understanding of QA/QC programs and metallurgical accounting

If you're a metallurgical professional ready to take ownership of lab operations and drive process optimization in a gold mining environment, we encourage you to apply!
