What you will be doing:
- Develop and maintain documentation regarding product availabilities, customer specification flow down, and metallurgical practice requirements as well as quality requirements for purchased prime, hardeners, slab, and reroll.
- Advise Sales, Marketing or Customer Service of product availabilities, recommending full Trial & Availabilities reviews for non-standard products.
- Provide Technical Review of all Trial & Availability requests. This also includes leading the location in New Product Development.
- Advise Production Areas on process and inspection requirements necessary to meet customer product requirements.
- Collaborate with Production to develop new production for the location. This includes supporting Production in trialing and qualifying new or modified purchased prime, hardeners, slab or reroll.
- Work to quickly contain non-conforming product and coach reports on customer notifications in the event of escape of non-conforming product.
- Coach and train reports on product requirements, customer specification review and specification flow down as well as mentor on effective customer technical support and handling of customer claims.
- Hold team members accountable for performance and consistently model, reinforce, and ensure adherence to organizational values, policies, and expected behaviors.
- Establish performance goals consistent with the business unit objectives, Metallurgy Quality Systems (MQS) department objectives, and other various departments supported by MQS.
- Lead MQS in monitoring product capability for mechanical properties and assigning problem-solving efforts to address poor capabilities.
- Follow all Quality Systems procedures for our company and participate in quality audits as an auditor or auditee.
Experience you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing quality.
- Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience.
