ROLE OVERVIEW: We are seeking a dedicated Product Metallurgical Engineer to lead the charge in driving continuous improvement for the manufacturing and performance of automotive, packaging, and industrial sheet products. This role focuses on optimizing processes, ensuring product quality, and leveraging expertise in metallurgy and material science to meet industry standards and customer satisfaction. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Translate customer and industry requirements into comprehensive process designs, control plans, FMEAs, and production work instructions, ensuring flawless execution. Monitor process performance and success metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in products and operations. Develop and implement innovative solutions using expertise in material science and metallurgy to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Design and execute experiments to address manufacturing challenges and develop new production methodologies. Assess the impact of equipment and operational changes on product quality and establish controls to ensure consistency. Enhance equipment reliability and uptime while adhering to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. Engage in hands-on troubleshooting and provide on-call responses to operational disruptions, ensuring quick resolution and long-term solutions. Offer technical guidance and problem-solving support to production and maintenance teams, leveraging advanced quality systems and reliability tools. Initiate improvement projects to address safety and quality concerns, drive cost efficiency, and strengthen customer satisfaction. Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001/IATF 16949, ISO 17025) through audits, process controls, and adherence to quality protocols. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related field from an accredited institution. A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a Metallurgist within a manufacturing setting. Proficiency in statistical methods, engineering calculations, physical and mechanical metallurgy, lubricants, and material processing. Demonstrated expertise in rolling operations and aluminum manufacturing. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and quality systems such as TS 16949, IATF, or ISO 9001. Skilled in working with heat-treatable alloys. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities. Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with quality systems, statistical analysis, metrology, and inspection techniques. Ability to effectively communicate process management and statistical concepts to manufacturing teams in a practical and approachable manner. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools such as Minitab and Spotfire.
