Responsibilities:Independently or with minimal supervision, performs complex engineering tasks related to the MES system. This role requires sound judgment, initiative, and technical expertise to solve problems, propose improvements, and ensure operational efficiency.
Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing support of MES software, acting as a subject matter expert to streamline manufacturing processes, ensure real-time data flow, and maintain system integrity. Key responsibilities include system configuration, user support, error analysis, system enhancements, integration with other systems (like ERP), project management for MES-related initiatives, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Design, configure, and implement MES software, including creating user concepts, managing access, and designing interfaces.
Monitor system health, troubleshoot and resolve application and interface issues, and perform system upgrades and patches.
Provide technical support and training to end-users, act as a competent contact for all users, and coordinate with manufacturing, process engineering, and IT departments.
Analyze manufacturing processes, develop concepts for solutions within the MES, and map and monitor standardized process flows.
Design and operate MES interfaces, working with other systems like ERP, LIMS, and QMS using APIs or web services.
Create project plans, coordinate activities, and manage the implementation of new MES phases and enhancements.
Maintain IT applications documentation, including User Requirement Specifications and configuration test plans, and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
- May serve as the lead engineer within Operations for the development or review of moderately complex products or take ownership of multiple components or manufacturing processes of significant complexity during product development or revision.
- Contributes critical expertise across multiple product lines, ensuring consistency, compliance, and innovation in MES related systems and workflows.
- Responsible for the direction and development of the MES technical support team, fostering growth, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Plans, conducts, and leads engineering projects or studies, including full-scale initiatives that require advanced knowledge in specialized fields.
- Apply deep and diverse engineering principles and practices within assigned areas, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.
- Coordinates and directs MES technical support activities and may be accountable for the technical development of the assigned team.
- Acts as a key technical leader in cross-functional teams, driving MES system improvements that enhance documentation, traceability, and operational efficiency.
- Ensures MES system design supports scalability, compliance, and integration with manufacturing and IT infrastructure.
- Maintains direct and effective communication with IT teams to ensure MES system alignment, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Requires Engineering Bachelors Degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Postgraduate studies or certifications in automation, MES, or project management are desirable.
Bilingual (English – Spanish) preferable
Efficient modeling of manufacturing workflows within the MES system.
Database management related to the MES system desirable.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in product flow development and / or manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in medical product industry is preferable.
- Postgraduate studies or certifications in automation, MES, or project management are desirable.
