The Lab Technician is responsible for assisting the Chemists, Sr. Chemists, and Manager with administrative tasks within the Tiffany & Co. Merchandise Testing Laboratory. This role is responsible for sample preparation as well as testing of incoming product and manufacturing materials.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform routine laboratory functions that include weighing of gold, silver or platinum samples for gravimetric or instrumental analysis. Perform non-destructive analysis of samples that include X-Ray Fluorescence and Stress Testing of Crystal using a Polarimeter. Prepare samples for food contact testing or performance testing and document results.
  • Organize and file laboratory data and documentation. Assist with data entry utilizing Microsoft Access databases and issue reports for samples submitted to the lab.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving and repacking test samples in to and out of the Merchandise Testing Laboratory (MTL).
  • Conduct routine set up and maintenance of laboratory equipment and glassware. Participate in all safety training seminars and follow all job safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or another related scientific discipline
  • 1+ year of analytical lab experience
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Access)

Preferred Qualifications

  • American Society for Quality Certifications
  • Experience with XRF or ICP-OES

Location: This is a fully on-site position based in NJ.

Assignment Duration: 6-month temporary contract.

The hiring range for this position ranges from $23.50 -$27.50 per hour. The rate of pay offered will be dependent on candidates'' relevant skills and experience.
