Key Responsibilities:
- Take and record vital signs accurately.
- Complete comprehensive patient admission documentation.
- Assist with physical examinations and specimen collection.
- Monitor patient intake and output to ensure safety.
- Transport and orient new patients to unit routines and regulations.
- Support patients with hygiene needs and daily activities.
- Communicate patient data clearly and promptly to nursing staff.
- Develop therapeutic relationships under nursing supervision.
- Interact therapeutically with patients during activities.
- Intervene on behalf of patients during crisis situations to maintain safety.
- Attend to activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Apply clinical and psychological interventions appropriate to age and developmental stage.
- Perform safety checks during assigned shifts to uphold a secure environment.
Required Skills:
- Prior experience working with psychiatric or mental health patient populations within the last 2 years preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to develop therapeutic alliances with patients.
- Capable of intervening effectively during crisis scenarios.
- Successful passage of pre-employment health clearance.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of mental health treatment protocols.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in mental health or psychiatric settings is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment health screenings.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts during daytime hours.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying patient needs and unit demands.
