We are currently seeking Full-Time Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to join our team. We have day and night shift opportunities available for compassionate, dependable individuals who are passionate about behavioral healthcare and making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Position Summary

As a Mental Health Technician, you will work directly with patients in our inpatient behavioral health hospital, providing support, encouragement, and supervision while helping maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. You will work alongside nurses, therapists, physicians, and other members of the treatment team to promote patient safety, recovery, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and supervision throughout each shift.
  • Obtain vital signs and observe patients for changes in behavior or condition.
  • Conduct routine safety rounds and accurately document patient observations.
  • Assist with admissions, patient orientation, and discharge processes.
  • Support patients with daily activities while encouraging healthy coping and life skills.
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to assist patients experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.
  • Escort patients to activities, appointments, and treatment areas as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic treatment environment.
  • Communicate patient concerns and behavioral changes promptly to the nursing team.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support individualized patient care.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of direct care experience working with behavioral health or psychiatric patients.
  • One (1) year of military Corpsman experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field with experience working with mental health patients.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with previous behavioral health or psychiatric patient care experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
  • Ability to obtain Handle With Care certification during orientation.
  • Ability to work assigned 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations.
