This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

As the Team Lead for Assertive (ACT) team providing evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model. This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional / Team Lead:

  • Oversee the administrative operations of the team.
  • Provide clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen in accordance with their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.
  • Provide direct services to ACT service beneficiaries.
  • Ensure services are documented in accordance with SCBHDD/QA requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to ACT team members to include but not limited to facilitating clinical supervision meetings, treatment team meetings, coordinating training for team and completing evaluations.
  • Ensure a department commitment to cultural affairs and ensure all direct reports have a cultural affairs component to his or her planning document as measurable objective.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan and ensures timely completion of prior authorization.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education and licensure.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.

Additional Requirements

  • In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.

  • Be licensed as a psychologist, LISW-CP, LPC or LMFT.

  • Have three (3) years experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental health illness.

  • A minimum of two (2) years post graduate experience.

  • Able to lift 5lbs and operate a state vehicle.

  • This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of weather or similar emergency events.

  • Requires flexible schedule

  • Services are delivered in the community and patients homes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Have the ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Knowledgeable of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional discipline.
  • Be able to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports with the ability to organize and manage time.
