Tasks Unlimited is seeking a licensed Mental Health Professional to complete diagnostic mental health assessments on a limited, as-needed basis. This role supports timely access to services by conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, determining medical necessity, and completing required clinical documentation in accordance with Minnesota DHS requirements.
This position is well-suited for a licensed clinician interested in very part-time (4 hours per week), flexible work, including those seeking supplemental income. The role may be structured as an independent contractoror part-time employee, depending on qualifications and organizational needs.
Employee pay range $30 - $33 per hour
1099-contractor rate is negotiable
Position Summary The purpose of the Mental Health Professional – Diagnostic Assessments position is to provide Diagnostic Assessment and short-term mental health services to clients accessing services through our drop-in center and vocational services. This position is part time and serves to meet the needs of clients who require an initial or updated Diagnostic Assessment before determining eligibility for services. The person in the Mental Health Professional in adherence with all applicable state department (Health/Human Services) and licensing board requirements as they pertain to client interactions, service delivery, and documentation. This position requires coordination with other teams to determine scheduling and work hours.
Essential Job Functions
Complete comprehensive diagnostic mental health assessments consistent with Minnesota Rule and DHS standards
Establish or confirm mental health diagnoses using DSM criteria
Assess functional impairments, mental health history, risk factors, and psychosocial needs
Determine medical necessity for mental health and related services
Collaborate with Tasks Unlimited program staff as needed to support service planning
Ensure all assessments and documentation are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with DHS and organizational requirements
Maintain appropriate clinical records and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and state regulations
Participate in limited consultation or coordination related to completed assessments, as needed

Qualifications
Required
Meet Mental Health Professional qualifications under Minnesota statute 245I.04
Current licensure in Minnesota as one of the following:
LICSW
PhD, LP or PsyD, LP
LMFT
LPCC
Eligibility to independently complete diagnostic assessments under Minnesota DHS standards
Experience completing diagnostic assessments with adults and/or youth
Knowledge of Minnesota mental health services, medical necessity criteria, and documentation requirements
Strong clinical judgment, writing skills, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to complete and pass a background study through NETStudy 2.0 (DHS)
Preferred
Prior experience completing diagnostic assessments for DHS-funded services
Familiarity with supported employment, housing stability, or community-based mental health services
Experience working with adults with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI)
