Job Summary/Objective:
The Mental Health Clinician provides comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic services for individuals, families, couples or groups experiencing mental health concerns. This role delivers clinically appropriate interventions, coordinates care with internal teams and community partners, and maintains timely, accurate, documentation in alignment with agency, state, and funding-source requirements. The clinician supports customers through person-centered treatment, connects them to needed resources, and collaborates with providers to ensure continuity of care and improved mental health outcomes. The clinician will use interventions designed to reduce maladaptive behaviors, enhance self-control, and support emotional, social, and psychological functioning.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Utilizes evidence-based treatments within their scope of practice.
- Acts as a liaison within the community to ensure continuum of care and support for customers.
- May act as a clinical resource for agency teams and conduct educational presentations.
- Treatment is provided within clinic settings.
- Therapeutic supports are provided as outlined in the individualized plan of service based on person-centered planning and utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Maintains record compliance within agency requirements and standard utilizing electronic/hard copy record formats.
- Shall ensure compliance and participation with competency improvement activities including, but not limited to, credentialing, continuing education (per licensure requirements or minimum of 24 hours per year of clinically based trainings provided by agency), implementation of evidence-based practices, peer review attendance, and professional improvement practices.
- Participates in corporate quality improvement and problem-solving activities. Maintains confidentiality and privacy within MDHHS, state and federal guidelines.
- Utilizes knowledge of CARF, CMS, MDHHS and Managed Care standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with licensure or licensure eligibility in the State of Michigan as a Social Worker (LLMSW/LMSW); Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP/ LLP); Professional Counselor (LLPC/LPC).
- Behavioral health case management experience helpful but not required.
- Good organizational, verbal/written communication, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed and resourceful.
- One year of computer experience – Word, Excel, and electronic medical record software preferred.
