Overview

Catholic Charities of Buffalo is seeking a full-time Mental Health Clinician for our Behavioral Health unit Monsignor Carr Institute MCI. We celebrate diversity and life experiences to help our clients live healthier happier lives. The Mental Health Therapist will report directly to the Clinic Supervisor.

Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that offers an array of programs that strive to empower individuals children and families. Catholic Charities of Buffalo NY is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40 professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries mental health services chemical dependency treatment educational and job readiness services services to older adults marriage counseling immigration and refugee assistance and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues. We strive to provide HOPE for all seasons.

Job Responsibilities

  • Orient new clients to treatment expectations and course of outpatient treatment
  • Complete comprehensive initial assessments to determine appropriateness for admission and course of treatment
  • Admit clients to the program as per policy and regulations make appropriate referrals if clients do not meet admission criteria
  • Develop and update treatment plans including needs strengths safety and corresponding plan of care
  • Provide individual group and family therapy based on the clients treatment plan
  • Communicate with clients families designated collaterals and service providers collaborate with other programs for comprehensive care
  • Re-engage clients who withdraw from treatment when clinically appropriate
  • Discharge clients per policy complete discharge summaries and facilitate warm hand-offs
  • Conduct sessions in-person or via approved teletherapy platforms
  • Produce accurate timely progress notes reflecting the clients status progress and treatment goals
  • Complete outpatient treatment review OTR forms and other required documentation promptly and accurately
  • Conduct case record self-audits as required
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including those governing confidentiality privacy program billing and documentation standards
  • Promote adherence to high ethical standards consistent with the Corporate Compliance Program Code of Ethics legal mandates labor laws and accreditation standards e.g. COA BBB
  • Perform all duties in accordance with CCBs corporate compliance and ethics program
  • Seek guidance consultation and direction from supervisors and treatment team members
  • Participate in required staff meetings and designated training
  • Attend educational training to maintain skills and keep credentials up to date including completing required continuing education units CEUs
  • Take necessary steps to complete licensure if hired with a masters degree only andor provisional licensure
  • Exemplify Catholic Charities mission vision guiding principles and policies and procedures
  • Promote and reinforce client-centered strengths-based solution-focused trauma-informed care
  • Cultivate a culture of sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Infuse agency values in therapeutic care offering quality client-centered strengths-based solution-focused behavioral health and substance abuse services

Qualifications

  • Masters degree and at least a license-eligible degree in Social Work Mental Health Counseling psychology psychiatric nursing or related discipline
  • Achievement and maintenance of New York State license LMSW LCSW LCSW-R LMHC LMFT or LCAT is required for continued employment
  • At least one 1 year of professional behavioral health experience internship experience may be counted
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication oral and written skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and maintain effective relationships with a clinical team
  • Demonstrated agility initiative ability to work independently and efficiently effective organizational and time management skills and produce results
  • Familiarity with WNY community and continuum of human services health behavioral health and social services systems organizations and resources
  • Fluent in various computer applications e.g. Word Excel electronic database systems and electronic health records
  • Experience with 10e11 EMR system a plus
  • Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in order provide person-centered care
