Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence-based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHCs 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education.

UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include:

In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Outpatient Services Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

Provides culturally competent outpatient mental health services that meet the needs of the designated adult population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assesses treatment needs and provides evidence-supported individual, group, and family treatment that is consistent with the service design and philosophy of the program as clinically indicated to assigned clients.
  • Coordinates with CCBH case managers, linkages, and referrals for assigned clients, including coordination of treatment and liaison with medical providers and community agencies.
  • Maintains clinical documentation standards as mandated by UBHC policy and other applicable accreditation and certification entities.
  • Develops and applies knowledge of trends and advancements in the field of practice.
  • Champions the utilization of evidence-based and preferred practices by developing own skills, mentoring others, and providing case consultation as observed by supervisor.
  • Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self-image of clients and preserves their human dignity as observed by supervisor.

FLSA: Exempt Grade: 25S

Salary Details

  • Minimum Salary: $71,162.00
  • Mid Range Salary: $85,428.00
  • Maximum Salary: $101,456.00

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in a mental health or related discipline plus two (2) years post-Masters experience in the mental health field.
  • Or Doctorate and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.

Certifications/Licenses Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated competency in treating adults and families.
  • Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
  • Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LCADC preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Competency with electronic clinical documentation preferred.

Equipment Utilized

  • Physical Demands: Extended sitting is required to provide treatment and type extensive clinical documentation into the electronic medical record.
  • Work Environment: May work at least one evening per week. Department includes quiet, private clinical offices. Generally pleasant working conditions.
