Position Summary
The Mental Health Clinician provides direct mental health services to University of Minnesota students through Boynton Health's Mental Health Clinic, https://boynton.umn.edu/. This position delivers psychotherapy, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, crisis intervention, consultation, and care coordination for a broad range of emotional, behavioral, relational, and mental health concerns. Services are provided in person and via telehealth using a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and student-centered approach.
The clinician works collaboratively with Boynton Health mental health, psychiatry, and medical teams to support student well-being, improve access to care, respond to urgent mental health needs, and promote continuity of services. This role manages an independent clinical caseload and contributes to a collaborative, inclusive, and team-based care environment. This position may be filled by a licensed mental health professional with one of the following Minnesota independent licenses: LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC. This position works primarily on-site/in-person.

Maintain current professional licensure and required continuing education.
Remain current on best practices, clinical trends, and emerging issues affecting college student mental health.
Support clinic operations, workflow improvements, and initiatives that enhance access to care, continuity of services, and student experience.
Contribute to Boynton Health's commitment to inclusive excellence, student-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position and department needs.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related mental health field, plus at least four (4) years of related professional experience; or terminal degree plus at least one (1) year of related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience consistent with University requirements.
Current independent Minnesota licensure as one of the following:
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Experience providing psychotherapy/counseling, mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.
Experience with clinical documentation, care coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration in a mental health or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team-based clinical environment.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, culturally responsive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard clinical technology tools.
Ability to work on site and in person between the hours of 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, days and hours may vary (40 hours per week on average).

Minimum Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods and perform essential functions in a clinical environment. Requires sufficient speech, vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and keyboarding ability to communicate with clients, document in the medical record, and use a computer and telephone.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an outpatient clinical environment within Boynton Health and may include both in-person and telehealth service delivery. The position requires regular use of computers, electronic medical records, and standard office equipment. Work may include responding to urgent clinical situations, participating in end-of-day or urgent coverage, and supporting campus mental health response needs as assigned.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $82,000.00 - $95,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100%-time Appointment (40 hours per week)
