POSITION SUMMARY

Conducts and coordinates non-professional care to residents, including but not limited to basic activities of daily living in coordination with the resident assessment and care plan.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Perform responsibilities related to the provision of resident care.  Contributes to and monitors and implements resident’s plan of care including responding to call lights and resident needs in a timely fashion, prepares, provides and documents prescription medication and treatments when assigned to do so by the DON/Charge nurse. Demonstrates expertise in the provision of Activities for Daily Living (ADL’s) for residents and delivers in a professional and caring manner.
  • Participates as an effective member of the care team, responding in a timely and effective manner to residents’ and family’s concerns and provides interventions when possible.   Initiates and performs duties which need to be completed though not directly assigned.
  • Prepares and uses necessary equipment. Inventories adaptive equipment and all supplies needed, assists in evaluating resident’s present equipment and offer recommendations for changes to enhance residents.   Cleans equipment in between each use and notifies appropriate personal if equipment is not working or in need of repair.
  • Performs and maintains documentation in a thorough and timely manner along with documentation of mediation.  Completes shift end check prior to leaving duty and performs drug counts with the next staff member responsible for passing medications.
  • Communicates effectively and promotes and ensures resident and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.   Administers medications/treatments in a timely and safe manner according to health care provider orders including appropriate performance of standard precautions. Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques to minimize injury to resident and self and implements infectious disease controls as appropriate, including isolation procedures, etc.  Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Housekeeping and other duties as assigned.


Hours:
Minimum 16 hours per week. Rotating weekends.

Required Experience:

Education, Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant with the State of Nebraska, preferred.
  • Active 40-hour Medication Aide certification with the State of Nebraska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
