Knowesis is currently seeking a Medical Writer to join our team and provide support to the Veterans Affairs (VA) Exposure-Related Care Transformation (EXPRT) Center. This role supports a broad range of clinical, scientific, and research-based activities, including document development, educational outreach, and quality assurance of written and oral materials. The Medical Writer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce accurate, high-quality content that advances the EXPRT Center's research, education, implementation, and evaluation programs.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position's security clearance requirements.

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and any additional meetings designated by the EXPRT Director, serving as an active participant by sharing feedback and relevant experience to foster the growth of EXPRT programs. Complete action items arising from meetings as directed by the EXPRT Director.
  • Develop, write, and edit a wide range of clinical, scientific, and research-based documents, including study protocols, leadership reports, manuscripts for publication, regulatory submissions, grant proposals, and other technical materials essential to research and clinical operations. Ensure all documents are accurate, well-organized, and tailored to the intended audience while meeting required formatting and stylistic standards.
  • Create educational and informational materials designed for healthcare professionals and patients, including training presentations, instructional guides, informational sheets, and promotional resources used across clinical and educational settings. Synthesize scientific evidence into clear, engaging content that enhances understanding and supports informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, clinicians, educators, and subject matter experts to gather relevant information and revise drafts based on feedback. Coordinate project timelines, manage multiple assignments concurrently, and ensure all deliverables meet quality expectations and deadlines. Review and interpret scientific literature to ensure all written, visual, and oral materials are grounded in current, credible evidence. Maintain consistency in tone, terminology, and style across all projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date VHA-required training for all personnel involved in patient care and/or research studies, including but not limited to: VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior; VHA Privacy Policy Web Training; and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program Training. Provide training certificates to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) annually, or as necessary.
  • Travel may be required as needed to attend meetings, conferences, and training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of experience in medical writing.
  • Bachelor's degree required; field of study in a scientific, health, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong scientific literacy and exceptional written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex clinical and research concepts into accurate, accessible content.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, research methodology, and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in organizing and presenting technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and incorporate expert feedback while maintaining quality and adherence to institutional guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical writing certification (e.g., AMWA, EMWA).
  • Experience supporting VA, VHA, or federal health research programs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory submissions and publication standards set by bodies such as the American Psychological Association and the Council of Science Editors.
