Position Summary

The Medical Support Assistant provides critical administrative and customer-service support for the Radiology department. This role serves as a primary point of contact for Veterans, managing scheduling workflows, patient check-ins, and electronic documentation to ensure seamless clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Scheduling: Coordinate, schedule, cancel, and reschedule Radiology appointments and consults.
  • Front Desk Operations: Manage patient check-in/check-out and provide necessary pre-appointment preparation instructions.
  • Communication Management: Handle high-volume inbound calls, route inquiries, and communicate professionally with Veterans, providers, and staff.
  • Data Verification: Verify patient demographics, order accuracy, and insurance information.
  • Records & Documentation: Maintain electronic medical records, process administrative requests, and manage Radiology files, forms, and CDs.
  • Customer Service: Resolve front-line inquiries, escalate complex issues, and maintain general front-desk readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven background in clerical, administrative, or customer-service work within a healthcare setting.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with medical scheduling, consult tracking, and electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Core Knowledge: Familiarity with computerized patient systems, medical terminology, privacy/information-security requirements (HIPAA), and radiology workflows.
  • Languages: Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Credentials: No clinical certification is required.
