Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist to support the credentialing and privileging of physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare credentialing, provider enrollment, regulatory compliance, and medical staff services. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience using credentialing software to ensure compliance with hospital policies and accrediting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of provider credentialing, recredentialing, and clinical privileging for physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare providers.
  • Process initial appointments, reappointments, credential audits, and provider renewals in accordance with organizational policies and medical staff bylaws.
  • Perform primary source verification for provider education, training, licensure, certifications, work history, and other credentialing requirements.
  • Utilize MDStaff credentialing software to manage provider records, monitor application status, and maintain data accuracy.
  • Ensure physician licenses and certifications are renewed prior to expiration.
  • Maintain accurate and complete provider credentialing files and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor credentialing timelines and follow up on outstanding documentation.
  • Interpret and maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational credentialing standards.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy of provider information within the credentialing database.
  • Generate reports and utilize database alerts to monitor provider status and compliance.
  • Provide backup support for other credentialing specialists as needed.
  • Collaborate with Medical Staff Services, Human Resources, and department leadership to ensure timely credentialing and onboarding of providers.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience

  • Healthcare credentialing experience is required.
  • Experience credentialing physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare providers.
  • Experience with provider credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging processes.
  • Experience performing primary source verification.
  • Experience with healthcare credentialing software, preferably MDStaff.
