Woodholme Gastroenterology Associates is a leading specialty practice dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system disorders. Located at 1838 Green Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208, the practice provides comprehensive gastrointestinal care delivered by a highly experienced team of board-certified gastroenterologists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.

Services include:

  • Outpatient consultations for gastrointestinal and liver diseases

Position Summary

The Medical Secretary provides administrative and secretarial support to physicians and the Practice Administrator while serving as a key point of contact for patients. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient daily office operations, delivering exceptional customer service, coordinating patient scheduling, and maintaining accurate medical records in a fast-paced specialty practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to physicians and the Practice Administrator.
  • Greet and assist patients in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments, procedures, and referrals.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls while addressing patient inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, and referring physicians.
  • Process correspondence, medical forms, prior authorizations, and other administrative documentation.
  • Support daily office operations while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative or medical secretarial experience, preferably in a physician practice or specialty medical office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in gastroenterology or another medical specialty practice.
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to providing outstanding customer service and patient-centered care.
