Morse Correctional Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Records Clerk / Patient Care Technician to join our healthcare team at the Okaloosa County Jail.
This unique dual-role position combines direct patient care support with medical records management. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing quality healthcare services in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Duties
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Assist nursing staff with patient care activities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Observe and report changes in patient condition
- Assist with activities of daily living as directed
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized treatment areas
- Stock medical supplies and equipment
- Support infection control and patient safety initiatives
Medical Records Duties
- Maintain and organize patient medical records
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date
- Scan, file, and manage electronic health records
- Process medical record requests and documentation needs
- Assist healthcare providers with record retrieval and chart management
- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Participate in audits and quality improvement activities
- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- CNA, PCT, EMT, Medical Assistant, or related healthcare experience preferred
- Previous medical records or healthcare administrative experience preferred
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
