Supports the clinical services in an assigned unit by performing patient reception, registration and admission, appointment scheduling, medical record processing and cashiering.
Major Duties
Registers and makes appointments for patients.
Answers questions regarding accessing care and using insurance.
Collects demographic information from patient and scans documents into electronic system.
Performs data entry of insurance information and verifies eligibility and coverage.
Maintains updated knowledge of changing health care business processes.
Performs cashiering functions, including processing patient payments, running daily revenue reports, and processing daily deposits.
Explains insurance billing and basic claims process.
Obtains insurance verification, secures pre-authorization determinations from local and external databases.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year's relevant experience.
Medical office or clinical clerical support experience.
Electronic health record experience.
Desired Qualifications
Some college coursework from an accredited institution.
Three years' relevant experience.
Knowledge of point and click software.
Successful completion of medical secretarial or medical terminology training.
