Medical Laboratory Technician

Pay Rate: $38.00/hour

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 5x8s rotation, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Department: Chemistry Lab

Position Overview

Under direct supervision of a laboratory technologist or supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Technician performs diagnostic testing on blood and other body fluid specimens using manual techniques and laboratory instrumentation. This role supports accurate and timely lab results while adhering to established protocols and quality standards. Phlebotomy duties may be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing on blood and other specimens
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and systems
• Follow established protocols and quality standards
• Accurately document and report test results
• Support laboratory operations within the Chemistry department
• Perform phlebotomy as needed
• Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science

Required Certification:

• Certification from a recognized agency such as ASCP or NCA

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Experience working in a Chemistry lab setting

Required Skills:

• Strong communication skills
• Technical proficiency in laboratory procedures and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Beckman Coulter equipment (AU systems preferred)
• Experience with Sunquest LIS
• Automation experience in a laboratory setting

• Perform any laboratory maintenance duties

• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory
• Keeping detailed laboratory records and files

• Assist the laboratory team with various projects or special tasks as needed such as building and/or adapting laboratory setup and test equipment for laboratory tests, examining test samples
