Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing and specimen collection that support the delivery of high-quality patient care at Boynton Health, https://boynton.umn.edu/. This position performs phlebotomy, specimen processing, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and result verification using established laboratory procedures and diagnostic instrumentation. The Medical Laboratory Technician ensures accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory results while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
Working collaboratively with providers and other healthcare professionals, this position supports the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness through accurate laboratory testing and exceptional patient service. The Medical Laboratory Technician also contributes to laboratory quality initiatives, maintains laboratory inventory and equipment, supports clinical education activities, and promotes a safe, equitable, and respectful environment.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an outpatient clinical laboratory with routine exposure to biological specimens, infectious materials, chemicals, and laboratory equipment. The position requires regular use of laboratory analyzers, computers, laboratory information systems, and electronic health records. Strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and regulatory standards is required.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $27.00 - $34.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
Time Appointment: 100%-time Appointment (up to 40 hours per week); Monday through Friday.
