Medical Laboratory Scientists (Tahlequah Hospital Authority dba Northeastern Health System) (Tahlequah, OK): Performs all required procedures related to counting and identification of blood cells, coagulation studies and other specialized hematologic procedures; Receives blood specimens sent to laboratory or draws blood from patient by venipuncture, observing strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis to prevent infection of patient and contamination of specimens; Analyzes Samples of patients such as blood urine, or tissue and verifies results; Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures; Reviews and reports test results to ensure quality control; Consults with Pathologist regarding difficult analyses or abnormal findings; Cross matches donor’s and patient’s blood to determine compatibility; and Collects blood specimens from newborn through geriatric patients by venipuncture or capillary collection, as appropriate. Must have experience with the following: Knowledge of processes including specimen acceptability, centrifugation of specimens, pipetting; Knowledge of operations of chemistry analyzers, hematology analyzers, coagulation analyzers, urinalysis analyzers; Knowledge of operations for immunohematology methodologies, microbiology techniques and serology testing; Previous experience working out of and with a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and an Electronic Medical Records system (EMR); Knowledge of immunohematology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, special chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, and microbiology; and Experience working in a hospital laboratory. Requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology or a related field, and 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or related occupation. Requires certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. Salary: $25.00 - $37.50/hr.
