Medical Laboratory Scientist

Vernon Memorial Healthcare is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Laboratory Services team. This position functions as a Generalist, demonstrating full competency across laboratory departments and performing a broad scope of testing procedures for patients of all ages.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform and report a variety of laboratory analyses from multiple specimen sources.
• Function independently as a Generalist across laboratory departments.
• Maintain accuracy, quality, and timeliness of test results.
• Assist with laboratory quality improvement projects.
• Participate in operational support activities to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
• Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience strongly preferred

Education & Certifications

• Education: Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; or Have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• Certification: ASCP certification preferred; CPR certification required
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant laboratory experience strongly preferred
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently

Hours, Wage & Benefits

• Hours:
• • 7 days on / 7 days off
  • Primarily: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday: 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM Saturday and Sunday: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • Rotating holidays required

• • Starting at $28.53 with increase depending on experience
