Duties:
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS.
Job Description:
-Demonstrates advanced level competencies in producing accurate laboratory test results, including all levels of CLIA-outlined testing and problem solving.
-Maintains and investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
-Demonstrates laboratory knowledge and skills while working independently.
Evaluates laboratory testing requests for appropriateness and applies critical decision-making skills to determine diagnostic testing needs.
-Participates on teams and/or performs special projects and assignments.
-Serves as a technical resource.
-Performs quality control, proficiency testing, and monitors accuracy and precision of laboratory testing.
-Prepares reagents and assists in the preparation of standard and control materials.
-Monitors reagent levels and assists in maintaining supplies.
-Participates in teaching various types of learners and training new employees.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-If Assoc Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science or Biological Science with MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) – two (2) years of experience.
-If Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science with ASCP categorical certification in specialty area – two (2) years of experience.
-If Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science with MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification – no experience.

-Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science.

-Associate's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology.

-If Assoc Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science or Biological Science - MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification.

-If Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science – MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification.

Blood bank testing experience including Type and Screen, Antibody Identification, DAT, Eluate, Phenotyping, and Antigen Typing. Product modifications such as syringe aliquots and irradiation. Protocol experience such as MTP and emergency release.
