What We Offer:

Team member is responsible for performing all laboratory procedures, including quality control, specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting of lab results. Team member will also assist in the evaluation of new or modified techniques when required. They will advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software, as necessary. Depending on the assigned department they may also have a combination of responsibilities including key operator of specified instrumentation, supply orders and inventory, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, management of vendor relationships, procedure writing assistance and/or oversight of an off shift.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. Associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training OR successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks. 
  • Experience: One year Specialty Areas (BB, Flow, and Micro): One year experience as laboratory scientist for specialty areas (BB, Flow, and Micro). (Clinical internships of 12 months duration meet this requirement), preferred. Three years of experience as a medical laboratory technician, required.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: MLT Certification from ASCP or AMT, required. Flow Cytometry only (if team member holds no other scientist certification): MDT(AMT) or SCYM(ASCP), required.
  • Additional Skills Required:
    • New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
    • All individuals certified ASCP beginning January 1, 2004, must participate and maintain ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) through the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). All individuals who are certified AMT beginning January 1, 2006, must participate and maintain AMT Certification Continuation Program (CCP).
    • Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests.
    • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
    • Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests.
    • Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.
    • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public.
    • Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field.
    • Ability to follow written protocols.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to communicate clearly.
What You'll Do:
  • Laboratory Testing: Perform analytical testing on patient specimens while ensuring accurate and timely results. Conduct quality control procedures, routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and competency/proficiency activities. Serve as a Key Operator for assigned instrumentation, performing advanced maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, process test requisitions, prepare and distribute reports, and utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to support daily operations. Assist with developing and updating laboratory procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Education & Training: Participate in ongoing education to maintain technical competency and support regulatory readiness. Assist with staff education, instrument training, and competency development.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical guidance and consultation to physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare team members. Foster collaborative relationships to support quality patient care.
  • Operations: Promote efficient laboratory operations through effective inventory management, appropriate use of supplies, and adherence to established workflows.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance laboratory processes, improve efficiency, and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Collaborate with laboratory staff to achieve departmental goals while maintaining professional communication. Participate in staff meetings, assist with resolving operational issues, and provide shift oversight when assigned.
  • Safety & Quality: Follow all laboratory safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe, compliant work environment while upholding quality assurance standards.
  • Patient Experience: Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care by communicating procedures clearly, keeping patients informed, and promoting an inclusive, respectful environment.
