The Specialty Diagnostic Clinical and Translational Research Laboratory at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking a full-time, MB(ASCP)-certified Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. This is a combined clinical and research laboratory where both high-complexity clinical diagnostics and translational research are performed, with a strong emphasis on molecular biology and genetics. The Medical Lab Scientist II supports both the clinical diagnostic and research needs of the laboratory, performing and reporting high-complexity testing under CAP and CLIA requirements while contributing to the translational research program. Work spans all areas of the laboratory, including molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, and molecular microbiology. Routine techniques include DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and purification; quantitative PCR; Sanger and next-generation sequencing; genomic and transcriptomic analysis; and biochemical assays such as ELISA and other immunoassays. Responsibilities include assay performance and validation, quality control, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, data analysis and documentation, and inventory management. The Medical Lab Scientist II collaborates with research team leaders, senior scientists, and principal investigators across both diagnostic operations and research.
