Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains orientation program, which is current with the standards of clinical practice in the Medical Group setting and implements it for all new staff.
- Acts as a liaison between new staff, current employees and the Director
- Develops and coordinates educational activities of the department including continuing education of staff members and orientation of staff to new equipment/procedures.
- Acts as resource person in such areas as policies and procedures, standards and other clinical topics, regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA) and suggests updates to policies and procedures as needed.
- Acts as professional role model and assists staff (especially preceptors) in professional development.
- Supports and participates in departmental Performance Improvement projects.
- Coordinates BLS, ACLS and PALS training of department staff.
- Coordinates point of care testing competencies for MG staff
- Actively participates in meetings and on inter-, intradepartmental, and external committees as assigned.
- Coordinates and implements plan for competency evaluation of Medical Group staff.
- Routinely performs procedures in the Medical Group area maintaining a high level of visibility and interaction with both staff and physicians.
- Serves as a resource and role model in clinical practice
- Participates in the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures that guide and support the Medical Group
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
